08/17/11 - Environmentally Compatible and Cost-effective - Chemical Deburring of Carbon Steel

Modern production processes must be reliable, efficient, cost-effective and at the same time environmentally compatible. The new Carbochem C 600 process by POLIGRAT lives up to these requirements in every respect.

Unlike the other complexing agents in common use, Carbochem C 600 contains a new type of stabilizer for hydrogen peroxide which is environmentally friendly and yet largely avoids losses through downtimes. This guarantees a stable production process, even when the immersion bath is in frequent use. When the bath is thermically overloaded in use it is consequently not irreparably damaged, but can be used again once it has been allowed to cool down.

Carbochem C 600 contains no ammonium and is therefore free of all the problems associated with ammonium. The low concentration of nitric acid also guarantees that the toxicity limits will not be exceeded. These production characteristics facilitate the operation of the plant and simplify the disposal of the wastewater.

Carbochem C 600 permits removal rates in the region of 0.5 - 7.5 μm/min and is thus about ten times faster than traditional processes in the upper segment by a factor of approx. ten. This permits a correspondingly higher performance of the equipment for chemical deburring.

Carbochem C 600 has an operating range up to an iron content of 60 g/l without graining. Compared with a maximal iron content of 20 - 30 g/l in the case of traditional processes, this means a considerably better utilization of the baths. What is more, Carbochem C 600 does not need such large quantities of expensive chemicals and is thus less expensive to acquire.

The combination of high-performance removal and bath utilization with lost costs for chemicals and disposal combined with the stability and operational safety of the process make Carbochem C600 a superior tool for improving cost-effectiveness of the production and the quality of the products to a considerable degree, while sparing the environment at the same time.
