Poligrat: Creating Added Value.

Burr-free surfaces

Burr-free surfaces

Depending on the process, burrs, flaking and particles on edges and surfaces can occur during production. They interfere with the usability of parts and can even make them unusable. Poligrat processes remove them reliably – regardless of the geometry of the component.

  • Metallically pure and particle-free surfaces
  • Deburring of edges and surfaces in a single operation
  • No deformation of the parts or scratching of the surfaces
  • Sharpening of cutting edges
  • Reproducibility within narrow tolerances

Smoothness can be defined in terms of roughness, friction, sheen and bonding. Which characteristic is most important usually depends upon the application.

Added value through POLIGRAT processes

  • Optimization of the advantageous characteristics of roughness, friction, sheen and bonding in a single operation

Typical applications

Metal sheeting for cladding and casings, body panels, kitchen appliances, medical and surgical equipment.

Burrs arise during production mainly on edges, but they can also occur on surfaces in the form of flaking and striae formed during milling. They cause problems during installation or impair the function of parts, especially when they snap off or detach themselves as particles.

Added value through POLIGRAT processes

  • No burrs and particles, even in inaccessible places such as the inside of drilled holes, edges and threads
  • The parts are suitable for the most demanding applications
  • Stress-free processing, therefore easily implemented even in the case of thin-walled and easily-bent parts as well as parts made of soft materials

Typical applications

Punched and bent parts of all sizes and machined surfaces, manufacture of machinery and appliances, semiconductor technology, phamaceuticals industry, screws, textile industry (fibre-free surfaces).

Cracks in parts which are subjected to stress must be reliably located before use, in order to avoid failure. POLIGRAT processes offer additional ways of testing for cracks.

Added value through POLIGRAT processes

  • Reliable indication of all cracks near the surface, even when covered by distorted material layers resulting from previous processing
  • Successful treatment, even for non-magnetic materials

Typical applications

Turbine blades, axles, springs, fabrications.

Sharpening blades and points by mechanical grinding always produces micro-burrs and temperature-damaged areas on the cutting edges or points. These lead to imprecise cutting, particle formation and increased energy required for cutting.

Added value through POLIGRAT processes

  • Burr-free cutting edges
  • Extreme sharpness
  • Smoothness even on the sides
  • Smooth cuts
  • Considerably reduced energy required for cutting

Typical applications

Medical needles and hypodermic needles, knives for the food and paper industries, kitchen appliances, textile industry.
